That shames my find. $100 for about 25 lbs, lots of minifigs (or minifig pieces!), but also 2-3 lbs of MegaBlechs. 20 instruction books though, which was cool, a couple SW ships and Space Police already built. My first success on CL, so I'm not complaining...

Less than a month into yard sale season, and I'm already up to 5 finds. 2 minor, but 3 pretty big finds. Only had 4 all of last year.

1) A ziplock bag of about 20 larger sized bricks, nothing smaller than a 2x10, how randomly odd! Along with a green baseplate and a non-chewbacca wookie minifig. For 25 cents.

2) One of the large rock monsters from the Power Miner sets. 25 cents for it too.

3) Bags with 1 or 2 bionicle sets in each, labeled at $2 a bag. I asked "how much for all of them", and was told "10 bucks". There were 22 bags.... Accidental haggling!

4) Found a tote weighing in at 51 pounds, for $50. A bit too many megablocks, but still a great deal. Nearly complete things such as Forestmen's Crossing, Eldorado Fortress(sadly without baseplate), all of the early small Harry Potter sets(such odd color schemes!), some old star wars, and a large soccer stadium(probably 3420). All the minifigures appear to be accounted for as well, though many of them have had their right arms and/or hands removed. Hmmmmm!

5) Found about half a tote for $25. Has in it a couple of the old dino sets, the 4620 Jack Stone set, and I don't know yet what else. Nice thing about this though, was they threw in a small tote for free, that had 3 batman sets in it! 7779, 7780, and 7781. Only thing missing was the minifigs from the batmobile set and Catwoman's ears.

A great year so far! Nothing more fun than random yard sale discoveries!!

Didn't bother to post a new thread since I'm sure it's long gone, but the local Lego store had the Pirates of the Caribbean zombie battle pack (Jack, King George Officer, Scrum, Yeoman and gunner zombie) for $7.48 ($15.38 MSRP). With The $10 off $70 coupon, got ten packs for $6.48 each + tax. This was two weeks ago. I checked yesterday, and they're all gone.

Here's today's haul from Kmart's online clearance picked up in Linden, NJ. Check the Kmart clearance thread for the huge discounts.

I really don't understand kmart mentality - I am sure someone would have bought 6 even if they were at $40-50, so why go from $120 retail or whatever the original discount was to $30? Even if they were 50% off at $60, I am sure it was going to get all sold quite fast. So for the ones that went to $30 were they on discount already? and this a second or third reduction?

Picked up a Jabba's Sail Barge at a yard sale today, for $40! Only missing 2 pieces! Although, unfortunately, it's the 2 sails. Still a great deal. Oddly, the other sets at the sale were way overpriced, and that one was way underpriced.

Meant to post this a while back, but I picked up an Imperial Shuttle on May 4 (from Lego Store) for ~$200, after tax. The employees were real cool about working with the price (on top of the 20% promotional discount) since the box was sooo beat up (but it had never been opened). I was very happy.

Then, last week I picked up two Death Stars on craigslist for $600!! The lady owned a bunch of properties and someone had just left all their stuff about a year and a half ago. I think I'm done with buying Lego sets for a while.

I envy me for this find. My wife deserves credit as well, technically she saw it first. And it was, like, totally because of her that we were in the store in the first place.

Yes, that's two large bags and the instructions for 7662. The other seven bags are pretty much the rest of the 2007 SW line. I hesitate to tell how much--how little--I paid. Might get a visit from the AFOL hit man.

Ok, it was $1.50 a bag.

(And I don't know the photos are upside down. Or am I still head over heels...?)

My son has been begging for the Black Pearl LEGO set for quite some time. I planned on buying it for him within the next month or so (many of the local stores still have them for sale for 109.99). Walmart is running a great special and I was able to get $1.97 shipping to my house (the cannibal set was not available in the store for pick up) a week earlier than projected.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Cannibal Escape & LEGO Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Black Pearl for $99.97

Goodwill.

I could spend every day for the rest of my life haunting Goodwills and never come anywhere close to a find this mind-blowingly good, I know this logically and from experience. Total freak of fortune. Like many people I had pretty much quit looking at Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. Pure, unbelievable luck. And my son and I finished the MTT about an hour ago. 98% complete, main build was missing a tan brick, two brown slopes, and the 6 rounded pieces on the side, then the little robot you build at the very end was totally missing, about 20-30 very small pieces.

That's an incredible find for Goodwill. My Goodwill puts anything they think is even remotely valuable on Shopgoodwill now, so I don't even bother going into the store. Too bad for them, I don't think I ever left Goodwill without a stack of books for my kids.

I actually did get a decent deal on Shopgoodwill a few weeks ago. A store had a NIP LEGO Education WeDo Robotics Construction Set, with NIP Software and Activity pack, up for auction. Whoever researched the set mis-priced it - the listing said the retail price was $129.95. This is actually the cost of the Construction Set alone - the Software and Activity pack cost an additional $89.95. I ended up getting the bundle for $134.00 - even with Goodwill's usual shipping costs, this was a great deal for me, as I've never seen this set offered at even a slight discount (and my son loves it!).

Yeah, it's harder and harder these days with everyone checking eBay or something before you can even haggle with someone. I had a guy check online right in front of me before talking about a price so I never went back to that particular store. I don't go to places as near as often anymore, oh well.

My local Goodwill (all 4 of them) don't send anything for online sale, everything goes to the floor. Some of the items can be priced a little high-I once saw a huge IBM PS/2 tower with 286 CPU for $250 last year. However I do find a lot of LEGO, usually new set missing minifig (stolen probably from a retail store before it was sent to Goodwill) and almost always 1/2 the retail price so it's usually cheap for parts anyway.

Today I picked up LEGO set 9494 for $20. The box was open and I figured it was missing minifig, But when I got home to check it out, the 3 bags were all still sealed and intact with all the minifigs. Only bag #4 was missing which contained parts to build one wing of the Jedi fighter ship. I think I got a steal getting 4 brand new minifig and 3/4 a set for 1/2 price.
