This week from June 10-16, Toys R Us will be offering a free LEGO Lord of the Rings Project Case when you make a $60 LEGO Purchase. Toys R Us claims it has a $13.99 value. Unfortunately, everything is marked up so this isn't really a deal. However, they do have a nice free LEGO building event coming up.

Next Saturday on June 16 from 2-4pm, you can create your own LEGO Batman or LEGO Superman Shield and take it home for free! Please note that this is intended for children only and is limited to 1 per child, while supplies last.

I saw the LOTR case the other day, it has a green baseplate.

Gasp - some prices (at toysrus.com) appear to be at or below MSRP, eligible for the promotion *and* in stock for shipping (shoprunner eligible even)! The prices aren't that great, admittedly:

They are recovering the difference on LOTR, e.g. Attack on Weathertop $79.99

QAR 4195 at $111.99 as well. Not great by itself, but a B2G1 Free (or the goofy Buy 2 Get 1 90% Off like they did about this time last year) would be good right now...

Despite their best attempts to "slash" prices on all PotC and Harry Potter though, the Quidditch Match 4737 set is still 20% over MSRP. :P

Looks like the prices for (a lot of) SW have been lowered too. Even their excusives too. TIE fighter, battle for Naboo, turbo tank and republic frigate are the only ones still marked high up.

The event was really nice. I have pictures to post later...but the shield was a 16x16 plate with 1x1s. I have the pattern sheet so i can post it here for those that missed it and want to recreate it? I'll perhaps start a new thread in Retailer Discussions. Anyway, thanks Ice for posting about it since i did not see a flyer this week and we would have missed it otherwise.

My daughter made Superman and I did a Batman for her, TRU also gave out a comic book and poster.

I agree - our store was not that busy and the employees didn't mind when my son made Batman while I made the Superman shield for him. I thought the shields were much nicer looking in person than in the promo photos. My son wasn't even interested in going at first but now has big plans to make Green Lantern and Joker shields to add to his collection, so I'd call that a win.
