Maersk Train: Retires soon?
Maersk Train: Retires soon?
I was counting on using the 10% coupon that comes with the catalog towards the Maersk Train at the Lego Store. At the time it was out of stock, but the worker said to try back when the recieve their next shipment the following day. The other day I called two Lego Stores, Anaheim and Costa Mesa, to check if they had it back in stock. No luck. So I ponied up and just bought it online full price.
Although TRU, Target, Walmart, and Lego S@H have it available online, I haven't seen it on a shelf in a while.
What are you're guys' thoughts?

They do have a new train coming out soon so maybe this one will bite the dust.

True. But I think of the Horizon Express as the replacement for the Emerald Night.Rhodebrick wrote:They do have a new train coming out soon so maybe this one will bite the dust.

The Maersk line is very unique though. They typically don't have any rhyme or reason as to their production dates. Its a nice train, definitely worth MSRP and I can't see it doing anything but appreciating after that.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.
Re: Maersk Train: Retires soon?
The rumour is that this set is discontinued. My local Lego store did not have it in stock either.

When I found out days ago from my lego store, I just made the decision to pony up and just buy it while I can still get double points VIP.
Re: Maersk Train: Retires soon?
It may just be a temporary shortage; my (Canadian) 2012 Holiday Catalogue that I received a couple of days ago has has the Maersk Train on page 6.

I can see that. But the new train looks like a modern train. Wonder about the red modern train - passenger train.
