VIP Points Query

Post by fanjo » Wed Oct 31, 2012 1:44 pm

I just purchased some items at shop.lego and got double vip points. I also used some of my points to get €10 off this purchase. I just checked today and my points are less than before eg. A set had 79 points, which has changed to 74 points and another item was 49 and is now 46 points.

Is this the norm that points earned are reduced when you use your reward points?

Yes, since part of your payment was using points, the new points you got correspond only to what you paid via cc. that is points earned today= 2*(cost of your items-points used in payment).

OK Thanks for clearing that up. They amended my account several days after my order was delivered, so I have less points on my account from the last time I checked.

Yea. During double/triple point deals, don't use any VIP points. Save those for the MUST have sets ;)
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

This may be somewhat off the exact topic, but I think I got an email from Lego saying that some points will expire at the end of the year. When I was in the Houston Lego store I asked an employee and she said there was no expiration. She also asked another worker who had agreed with her. Any opinions on this?

The workers you spoke with have been misinformed or just don't know. We've had this discussion here somewhere and found out points do expire. Ripped from the other thread:

In the faq on the Lego website it says:
Do my points ever expire?

Yes, all VIP Points expire on December 31st two years after the year in which they were earned. Before this happens, LEGO will notify you via the email address you provided during registration.
Members that join the VIP Program via a LEGO Store or phone order, and subsequently do not register their card number online within one (1) year of joining the Program, will have their points expire and their point balance reset to zero.
