LEGO NINJAGO Spinners question
LEGO NINJAGO Spinners question
My son wants some Lego spinners for birthday. I was searching amazon for these playsets and found two different types.
One type is in red packages, for instance Lego 2257 "Ninjago Spinjitzsu"
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Ninjago-Spin ... ZQJOD4FYRZ" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or this "Lego Kruncha"
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-4611480-Krun ... GYVFTNYJAD" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And then there are the types that are in green packages, for instance Lego 9569 "Ninjago Spitta"
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-4611480-Krun ... GYVFTNYJAD" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
or Lego 9591 "Ninjago Weapon Pack"
http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Ninjago-Weap ... AKJAV8GR0L" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS RED AND GREEN TYPES of sets?
Are they different in any way? Does one have more contents? Are they compatible together? I think they come with play cards (?) , would this cards be also compartible or not?
Thank you very much in advance!!!!

Re: LEGO Spinners question
Hi, snoopy, and welcome to TnB.
The red packaging for Ninjago was the initial wave of products, when they were battling the skeleton army. The green packaging is from the second wave, against the snake army. They are 'compatible' with each other in every way. The weapons, spinner colors and figures will differ from set to set and from wave to wave, that's all.
I've not played the card game, but I would think the red sets are the 'base' version of the game, and the green sets are an 'expansion pack'... but I could be wrong.

Re: LEGO NINJAGO Spinners question
The main difference is the enemy.
The Red packs were released first and the enemies of ninjas are skeletons.
The green packs come later when the enemy are snakes and later stone guys.
Have a look at the Bricklink catalog
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.as ... &catType=S" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The following link is already ordered by release date.
Have in mind that older sets might be more expensive, specially Amazon might be more expensive than BL when you are buying from 3rd party Amazon sellers since they have to pay more fees.
Just looking at one of your links I can identify a seller in Amazon who also sells of BL cheaper.
So shop arround and hopefully you will find a good deal.

Re: LEGO NINJAGO Spinners question
snoopy, welcome to TnB!
There are some subtle differences between the red and green packaged spinners. IIRC, the older red-series spinners have solid studs, and the green-series have hollow studs. (or maybe vis-a-versa---my son would know of the top of his head). This means that some of the cards and parts from the green series, cant be used when battling with red series spinners. But, again, this only matters if you battle using the cards.
Using the cards is similar to a Pokemon battle. Each character has different 'element' points, and the cards give the characters accented features during battle... for example Kai has high 'fire points', so can use a 'fire weapon' that the other characters cant use. The cards also give challenges to break up the battle---like hitting targets, or spinning upside down.
The spinner game is a lot of fun, but 1/2 the time we don't use the cards, and just change things up as 'players choice'.
Other than that subtle difference, the two series are completely interchangeable. So, I would not worry too much about it.
Good luck in your hunt, and have fun!

Re: LEGO NINJAGO Spinners question
I only have one, and never opened it, but I heard that the second wave (the green ones for the green ninja year) were better at playing the games.
