Book talk on Lego
Re: Book talk on Lego
It's hard to imagine a world without LEGO, but a few decades ago, it was hard to imagine that Kodak wouldn't be in the camera business. I mean, Kodak was so successful with consumer snapshot cameras that we have the "Kodak moment" in our vernacular. At least older generations do. Now, Kodak is bankrupt.
I'm glad that LEGO turned it around from the brink of bankruptcy, and with the LEGO games and licensing, they generate interest in their core product, and can still sell it. Success is survival. With the advent of 3D printing, I keep wondering if LEGO is threatened with obsolescence, like Kodak. I mean, if a kid can make their toy in 3D and print it, why would they need LEGO?

3D Printing a lego. . . I say that is a valid point, But on an actual reasonable scale to provide the playability and viability to a standard lego consumer: Too far off. 3D priniting is much closer for the AFOL which is such a small percentage of lego sells, I believe they fret not. At least not in the near future.
Its out there, But imagine the cost ! ! !
