Road plates. Connect to Modulars/Buildings?

Post by greanie2011 » Thu Apr 12, 2012 4:18 pm

Looking for tips and trick (and some images would help too!) How do you connect a road plate to a modular/building in your lego city?

Im wanting to setup a small city scene with a couple straights and a turn, just curious what you guys have done to make a good solid connection and add the nice effect of a good action scene.

I have been trying to do something similar. I have the grand emporium modular and it has a bunch of smooth pieces for the "sidewalk". I like that look but it also seems very narrow for a sidewalk so when I put my strait road plate next to it I used a number of light gray 6x6 smooth pieces to extend the sidewalk to encompass the studs portions of the road plate. That solved two issues for me. It made a wider sidewalk for more action sequence space and securely connected the roads to the building.

^ That seems like the most appropriate solution. Even if you don't have 6x6 tiles, you could use any type of tile that would be able to span the gap between the two baseplates, even a line of 2x4 or 2x2 tiles would suffice, then you fill in the rest of the studs with whatever works.
