Hey everyone.
I was wondering if those of you more experienced can help me understand the difference between these two sets of stores?
For instance, does the Legoland Discovery Center Shop follow the same promos as the Lego Stores (Free Polys etc.)?
Also, can you get VIP points (Including the 2X or 3X events) at both or only at the Lego Store?
I saw that Legoland Discovery Center does sell an annual pass for about $60 which is supposed to give you 10% flat off everything at their shop including Exclusives, which sounds attractive for those sets which almost never go on sale, or are very difficult to find on sale. However, if they are not giving any VIP points, the 2X and the rare 3X points events sound more attractive at the regular Lego Store if one can wait to time the purchase around those events.
Appreciate the input.

The legoland at Vaughnmills doesn't offer VIP points and there brick wall is more pricey since it goes by weight and not how much you can fit into a cup. I only go there cause they always seem to have a great selection on poly bag sets which I love. Other then that I stick to the Lego store cause of the VIP points and other things like getting free figures if you spend X amount of dollars.
Re: Legoland Discovery Center vs. Lego Store differences?
The LEGOLAND Parks and Discovery Centers are not owned/operated by LEGO, they are actually facilitated by Merlin Entertainment, therefore there is no reciprocity for the VIP program at the stores associated with LEGOLAND attractions. The only way to accrue VIP points is via their corporately owned retail outlets: LEGO Stores and LEGO Shop@Home.

Wow good info all around. Thanks for clarifying this. I think I'll just stick to the corporate stores and wait for the 2X events. Here is hoping we get another 3X even this year! Last year I literally spent 800 bucks picking up a couple of large sets I've been wanting forever and the 3X was very nice adding up to a free Haunted House!
