Of the sets on sale at TRU this weekend, I'd say the 70701 Swarm Interceptor is the best value. It's an intelligently designed set with a ton of playability. It's not as fancy looking as the 70721 Ninjago Kai Fighter but it's every bit as fun. Don't overlook this one!

I don't have any interest in the theme, but 70701 definitely stood out to me. I wouldn't buy it at MSRP, but for $12, why not? I should head over to TRU and see if there is any stock left.payam81 wrote:I told you guys!payam81 wrote:While I admit I was also quite cold towards the whole "Galaxy Squad" line, that was remedied a bit last year when Target put a bunch of these at 70% off.

Appears that they are all gone now... someone must have cleared them out.

I ended up buying the majority of what was left at my local tru for $1200. The 1800 is the retail value of my first cartfull (in the picture). I will be parting it out and given past experience, I'll have no problem making it back, $10 at a time. :P

Yes PARTS for the win. Or maybe by small stores owners because they are short on stocks. Either way, they screw others over, bad karma I say.payam81 wrote:He must have took out the RRSP: lolharry99 wrote:Appears that they are all gone now... someone must have cleared them out.![]()

All I am saying for dozens of the same set is that lots of the same parts will sell SLOW - variety (and pricing) is the key.

yesterday was also 15x airmiles at toysrus.ca so definitely was a good time to make a big purchase or pull the trigger to get some airmiles as a bonus (since no cashback available from toysrus.ca anymore). Who ever made the $1200 purchase in store lost out on 600 airmiles but I guess one cannot take the risk and wait for Saturday to clean out the store.harry99 wrote:Appears that they are all gone now... someone must have cleared them out.

50% off Lego doesn't happen a lot - specifically at TRU.

True enough, hope they will do the same for the LOTR/Hobbit line when it goes EOL.

I can't buy direct from Lego, and the only other source is retail. What would you suggest? Shut down Bricklink entirely?dulait wrote:they screw others over, bad karma I say.
Most parts sell slow. It really does not matter what set it is -- someone will want the parts eventually. The more inventory you have (both in quantity and variety), the more likely someone is to choose your store over another.harry99 wrote:All I am saying for dozens of the same set is that lots of the same parts will sell SLOW - variety (and pricing) is the key.

Leave a few sets behind for others and don't wipe the store entirely clean so you can possibly in some distant future make a few bucks… Believe it or not there are little kids who still play with Lego and come in to store looking for on-sale sets.mdoupe wrote:I can't buy direct from Lego, and the only other source is retail. Now why can you not buy from Lego? No stores near you? No credit cards? Bricklink did not start with people buying all the clearance sets then parting the pieces for profit. It was for people to get RID of their old and used sets or peices that they had when they were kids. Like ebay, what once a great place to find good deals on old discontinued things for decent price become a place of GREED and nothing more. I stopped ordering from either a long time ago unless I REALLY need something for a moc that I am working on. I still suggest people to find what they need on there, but do not expect to find anything cheaper than MSRP.mdoupe wrote:I can't buy direct from Lego, and the only other source is retail. I got a backorder notice on my 2 galaxy sets despite buying them early on Saturday when all sets were still available on the website. I hope they screw up my order or delay it a long time because I am hoping for another coupon code from toysrus to make up for it. Due to a previous delay, they gave me a specific 25% discount coupon code that I could use on anything, including large exclusive lego sets!

Most likely he was banned from Shop at Home for making multiple accounts to circumvent items limits, or something similar.dulait wrote:Now why can you not buy from Lego? No stores near you? No credit cards?
At a certain point, a healthy hobby like investing in Lego becomes a hoarding sickness that can get you in trouble with not just Lego, but the police. E.g. I bought from this ebay seller about a week before he was arrested: http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/2008-0 ... gos-target
Another one: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/0 ... 15311.html - This guy was an executive and clearly didn't need to steal/sell for the money, he did it because hoarding Lego becomes an obsession all its own.
Another one from last month: http://www.azcentral.com/story/news/loc ... /14143047/
Not saying that anyone on this forum is engaged in anything like the above, but just noting it's something to be aware of if you find yourself stacking rooms floor to ceiling with Lego sets. The propensity/temptation to let any kind of hoarding get out of control and start making you behave badly is there.
I have to catch myself sometimes when I find myself getting angry at a family member for damaging one of my MIB boxes.

I had the same thing happen to me... I made two separate orders, on the first one, I paid with paypal, and the $ was taken out of my account, but the order has "disappeared".. this happened to me once before where the order just doesn't register on their site yet you're charged for it.. I didn't end up getting my order and it took forever to get my money back.. I also didn't get any coupon like you mentioned..
Re: TRU Canada - 50% off galaxy squad sept 27th - Oct 3rd
I stopped in at my local TRU to pick up my set of series 12 yesterday and they still had plenty of Galaxy squad sets on the shelf. It must have been stashed up above the shelves.
I'm sorry you guys think I'm some sort of monster for buying stuff literally nobody else wants, even at 50% off. For the record, I have not been banned from shop.lego.com and I'm not some damaged lego hoarder. Just trying to run a small business that involves something I love. I don't think DADSAFOL, Brickchick, etc. Are just "getting rid of spare parts", but I don't see any negativity toward them.
