I was just thinking about this - could it be possible for this promo to hurt LEGO's bottom line this holiday season? I mean, if people put things on their wishlist hoping to win the contest, they'd be less likely to buy them, wouldn't they? Or do you think most people are putting things on their WL that they didn't intend to buy, but wouldn't turn down if they won?

I think chances of winning would be almost like the grand prize lottery since its worldwide. So I guess no it won't affect them.

Not quite, as we need money in order to maintain the level of comfort we enjoy. We don't NEED LEGO. The analogy works in mechanics, but in an a:b relation falls flat. You might as well say someone stops eating because they are hoping to win burritos for life from Taco Bell or something.

There are really only five eligibility zones, each with a grand prize (USA, Canada, UK, Germany/Austria/Switzerland and The Netherlands) so it's not really world-wide.

As for the effect it might have on LEGO, I'm not saying it will greatly impact them, but say someone was considering splurging on a Modular Building, but was on the fence about it. They might simply enter the contest in the hopes of winning it, instead of outright buying it, even with the double VIP points or whatever sales might come along in the interim. Just something to ponder. I know I would hold off until after Christmas to see if I won before buying the Shuttle Adventure. Then again, maybe that's what they want you to do, pass over the sales until they've all dried up...

So there will be a higher chance of winning for countries that have a smaller population. Honestly, USA should get at least 2 grand prizes since we got a good 300 million. Oh well, I guess we can't get the best of everything here.

The drawing is on DEC 15th.
My guess is so you still have time to get what you didn't win.
