Mastermind Toys clearance

Post by supercal » Sat May 24, 2014 9:40 pm

http://www.mastermindtoys.com/2014-Ware ... thing.aspx

Supposedly 70% off now. I see a few Galaxy Squad sets, Lord of the Rings Battle for Helm's Deep, City Museum Break-in set and a few others.

If you are near Mississauga, they have a physical warehouse sale at the International Centre on Airport road in hall 6. I didn't have time to stop in there today though saw the sign outside.

Wish this was online too. I really want the Museum Break in and Technic Tow Truck for $30 a pop.

I was gonna post about this, but most of the sets were already OOS online. The two that were available, Helm's Deep and the Uruk-Hai set (which wasn't even listed as being included in the sale but had the 70% discount) could not be added to the shopping cart. I already have Helm's Deep but was tempted by that 70% discount for a second one to figure something out for it. Would have been a dumb purchase for me...thankfully I didn't.

The sale was originally 40-70% off during the week. I picked up the tow truck @ 40% off... it came REALLY beaten up though... it was disappointing to say the least.. the box looked like it had been thrown around, and has a big hole in it as well..

I was tempted to go to the event at the International Centre but read through some of the comments they posted and one of them stated that LEGO sells out very quickly on the morning of the first day...

Does anyone know if they have any other good stuff at these clearance events?

Went Sat morning and they only had the Goblin King Battle set (79010) that was stickered at $97 (down from the regular $129.95) PLUS 70% off the lowest price, so was selling for an awesome $29.10! They had lots, but they were going fast, seemed like almost everyone had one or more in their carts. Noticed some people had a Lone Ranger set, not sure which one, might have been the Silver Mine Shootout. Only other Lego was the Hobbit board game that was selling for $39.95 minus 70%, so $11.99.

I didn't make it down to the big sale this year, but I managed to get there on the second or third day last year. They have large amounts of stuff that has been discontinued or is very overstocked. By the time I got there last year, all they left in Lego was some of the Heroica games and a large amount of the planets sets. However, they were only like 20% off. I don't know if they increase the discount as the week progresses or not.

^ Thank you for posting! I think it might be worthwhile to consider this for a trip next year. Too bad that things sell too quickly online (if they actually ever had stock). The Uruk-hai battle pack and Helm's Deep at that price are certainly a steal.

Having gone to one of their sales once, I will never do it again.

The LEGO aisle gets swarmed and people are vicious. One woman was pinned between 4-5 carts and in tears asking for people to please let her go. It was disgusting.

^ Wow? Seriously? What are people coming to? How I like the pleasures of ordering LEGO online... no line-ups, just having to open the door for the delivery!

Until those same people above snap up all the deals in the first 30 seconds leaving little of value to order online. Oh, and what you do manage to get in the mail comes in banged up boxes.

I was stunned. People were literally maneuvering two carts in front of the LEGO sections and SWEEPING the sets into the carts with no regard for what they were buying.

In one attendees defense, I naively asked a clerk if there was any more LEGO. He chuckled and said that it usually goes in the first few minutes. I shook my head and commented about the behavior, and one shopper overheard me. She went back to her cart and gave me a couple of fist fulls of S2 CMFs (they were maybe $1 each). I have since seen her at a few events and I appreciate her gesture...but the rest of those Mastermind hoarders are sub-human scavengers.

Sounds like resellers to me. I already heard bad things about these warehouse sales so didn't bother going. There are good deals to be had at Walmart, Toys r Us, etc when they have clearance and that's good enough for me, way better chances of getting something there without getting physical and rude. :-D
