Kmart Children's Building Event Leftovers
Kmart Children's Building Event Leftovers
I just got back from a trip to a local Kmart here in Brookfield, WI and saw a couple tables set up with cups filled with Legos and instructions for building a small school bus. There were also sticker sheets with Legos too. We spoke to a worker and he spoke to the manager and he said that we could make a couple for our god children and they said it would be fine. This event was supposed to have gone down on Saturday but they hadn't cleaned up yet. Has anyone else heard about this? I never saw any advance notice at all anywhere about this. Has Kmart ever done this before?

There was a small blurb about it in the sales ad last Sunday, saying it was Sat from 12-1. We went - our store said they had enought for about 100 kids to build school buses but only about 30 showed up. It was cool. In this Sunday's KMart ad is a blurn for a similar TRIO event next weekend.

Re: Kmart Children's Building Event Leftovers
Well, I took my two kids in to a big disapointment.
We waited around for 20 minutes before the manager showed up and said his store was not doing the event. He had no information on it. He said he called the next closest store and they were having the event. :x There was many irate customers that even had the ad with them.
I myself saw nothing in the ad that said at limited locations or the such.
Did this happen to anyone else?

Legos is definitely a good learning game for small kids. It helps in developing creativity and imagination in kids.

I've never seen one of these at K-mart, but our Toys R Us has had similar events. The problem is, every time at TRU everything is gone within the first 20 minutes. I took my 2 kids to one a few months ago where the kids were supposed to be able to build a car and race it, but they ran out of the basic parts so all they had left was a box of bricks and plates. It was quite the mob scene. After that experience, I wouldn't subject my kids to that again since they were so disappointed that they couldn't race a car.

These types of events at Kmart are generally very poorly communicated and organized. I went to a few Disney Pixar CARS days at Kmart and it was a complete crazy house with collectors elbowing eachother and kids being turned away....awful.jsnweitzel wrote:It would have been nice to know about this. :(
On that note, it would be nice to see some heads up here for the next event:) I would bring my son! It would no doubt be far more calm than the cars day.
