Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
Is it just me or do the sales this year seem almost anti climatic? a few sets at TRU at 33% off same with Target with their 2 sets 33% off, and so on and so on, we used to get some great 50% off sales years before, but it seems like the good sales are gone.
Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
I am unsatisfied with most of the offerings this black friday. At this point I am hoping lego.com repeats their 10$ off per 100$ spent so I can pick up a small discount on a mindstorms set for my son. living in a state with out a lego store means I do not pay sales tax so turns out to be about the best deal I can find on a mindstorms set....

Yeah, this year looks weak for Lego on Black Friday. In fact the TRU sale on Friday and Saturday was better than most of the sales coming up on BF this year.
Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
there's always boxing day sales! Terrible bf this year.. Tv sales crap. Lego sales crap. Pre-bf sales were much better deals. No worthwhile ipad or ipod sales either. $50 gc?! Could get a better deal with student discount (20%) Well, I guess I'll just sleep in and wait for dec 26!
Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
I can't speak for previous BF's in terms of LEGO because I only got back into the hobby after last year's BF, but the sales seem lame to me in comparison to the sales we've had all year long. It will be interesting to see what kind of sales show up after the holidays are over, if stores still aren't "in the black"...
The only BF that might be worthwhile is the LEGO Store itself, although I think they should do more strata of discount between 20% and 50% - throw in a few, more rare, 30% and 40% scratch-cards, and I'd be more enticed to stop in. As it stands, the apparent rarity of the 50% cards aren't really filling me with anticipation.

Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
Visiting my parents for the holiday, I somehow convinced my mother and girlfriend to go to Roosevelt Field Mall on Long Island to check out this scratch off thing. I didn't know you had to make a purchase to get a scratch off, though was told that if someone got a 50% off one, they could grab more stuff before final checkout.
So I had each of the three of us buy something, five or ten dollar items just to see what we'd get and we all got a mere 10%, but since it was on the way home, it was better than nothing.
Scratch-offs were only available if a full-priced item was included in the purchase, learned after I sent my girlfriend to the register with a half-off Atlantis keychain (got a ton of 1/2 off keychains today).
The 10% was decent for exclusive items, since sales on those can be hard to come by.
One of the sets bought today was the new Atlantis walker with the hammerhead guy. Think I'll use the BOGO coupon at TRU in a few hours to get one or two and return the one to the Lego store.

Very lackuster. One target was sold out of the sales this morning but 2 others still have both big sale sets. LOL. I fine that a horrible black friday for lego and for the industry overall. Of course the tv's always sell out
Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
OH yeah for those in the DC area...several borders have many many boxes of series 2 out. Tare 4$ but plenty of selection. I was finally able to get an Egyptian and roman.
Re: Are LEGO sales this Black Friday LackLuster?
quite a few hidden sales were better than the advertised bf sales. just need to find those. ;) i think sales should be limited to 2-5 quantity, like what amazon is doing to limit the scalpers/resellers. otherwise there are plenty of ebayers and resellers who would ruin it for the rest of us. i usually buy in quantities fewer than 10, but there are some who buy in the hundreds of the same sets. ;)
